The Lugano Project marked a new chapter in the ICE journey. Hosted in partnership with the City of Lugano as part of the Mzansi Ballet, Music & Dance Festival, this week-long residency introduced ICE Gen 3 dancers to a stimulating rehearsal and performance schedule that bridged cultures and celebrated excellence in contemporary dance.

Held at the prestigious Palazzo dei Congressi, performances on July 4 and 5 spotlighted repertoire by some of the world’s most visionary choreographers. ICE students brought to life "Ehad Mi Yodea"" by Ohad Naharin and extracts from ""Bolero X"" by Shahar Binyamini.

The Magic of Dance on July 3 showcased Mzansi Ballet, the Joffrey Ballet School in “Masc”, choreographed by Angelica Stiskin, Danse Académie Vevey in “Strefa”, and selected ICE soloists curated by the Festival’s artistic team - Armande Meier,Mika Weiss, Max Berg, Danica Deschamps, Finn Anderson, Emilia Dubiel, Athena Hu, Nikhil Sengupta, Amber Martin and Iris Yuan.

The intensive workshop preceding the performances included daily rehearsals and Gaga technique classes with Matan David, ballet masterclasses with Florence Faure, and additional contemporary sessions led by Gianni Notarnicola and Vincent Mantsoe. The diverse perspectives enhanced the dancers' understanding of movement, presence, and performance.

Designed for dancers ages 15–19, selected by audition or invitation, The Lugano Project provided a cultural experience— combining intensive training and performing on an international stage.
With support from the Swiss National Lotteries Commission, Mary Oppenheimer, and Carolyn Steyn, this program was a celebration of artistry, and collaboration.
