• Dear Ice team members, My name is Mayssane Abar and I’m a contemporary and ballet dancer. I’m a French girl from La Réunion Island and I’m 16 years old. I'm following classes in “Les Pointes de L’Avenir” since 2020. This school of contemporary and ballet is directed by Armelle Soulier. To be in this school I made a lot of sacrifices. I have to live in Brest, France, far away my family home which stands in La Réunion island, 10000km from here. But I'm happy to have made this decision because I can follow a dedicated schedule to dance 18 hours a week, while following school curriculum on the side. Lately I decided to focus more on contemporary, because it's where I can imagine myself later. Why? When I was younger I went to see “Carmen” from Mats Ek and I felt something really special inside me, I put that feeling in a place without explaining it, without even realizing how deep it was but this year I went to see ”Double Murder” of Hofesh Schester and this feeling was there one more time. I have realized how badly I wanted to make contemporary dancing my future because it's who I am. I have a lot to express and dancing is how I am able to bring my feelings out. During this summer I had the chance to participate in a summer intensive with Yeji Kim, a dancer from the Hofesh Schester’ s company. It was the best summer intensive in my whole life, I really felt like I was exactly where I was supposed to be. I will be thrilled to participate in ICE. It would be a magical experience to work with these 3 talented choreographers and to dance one of their choreography on stage. It could bring so much maturity to my dancing, to dance for those renamed choreographers. Please consider my application, It would be a real game changer in my life, I can feel it, it's the next step I have to take. Thank you for having listened to me Mayssane
